A powerful 2018 vintage
What is En Primeur?
Wines bought for investment purposes. Commonly referred to as Wine Futures, en primeur wine is buying wine whilst the liquid is still in the barrel. En Premier wine is virtually cheaper than the price of wine after it is bottled.
Why invest in En Premier wine in Singapore?
En Primeur are at its lowest price wines, bought before they are bottled and released onto the market. This gives collectors first advantage. The wines will only be shipped 2-3 years after the vintage. Prices are quoted are quoted ex-cellars.
With the tumult of good vintages, en premier wines can increase quickly in price in a matter of weeks, adding profits. Although it is not guaranteed that prices may increase, it is a collector’s paradise, as wines are sought directly from chateau, adding provenance.

Bok personally tasted the 2018 wines!
Pauillac
Pichon Lalande 9.7+ Rating
Perked me up with coffee bean smell, soft & elegant, layered and long
Pontet Canet 9.7+ Rating
Unique fresh food nose. Big and jammy, very unique style.
Grand Puy Ducasse 9.3 – 9.4 Rating
Warm earthy nose. Content is warm and forward, but not precise and not focused
Margaux
Giscours 9.6 Rating
Band-aid and alcohol nose. Chewy, light and soft with sophisticated taste.
Du Tertre 9.3 Rating
Wooden stalk & stem bouquet, slight lemon skin. Light and airy, soft, feminine, loads of violets
St Estephe
Cos d’Estournel 9.7
Big fruity nose. Huge red fruits, silky, a big wine by any standard, very extracted and precise.
Phelan Segur 9.5+
Tea leaves bouquet. Surprisingly pure, lingering fruits, loads of after taste, lively.
Meyney 9.2
Thick concentrated tea leaves bouquet. Chewy, light but tasty, very decent quality for non classified growth.
St Julien
Leoville Las Cases 10
Strong coffee bean nose. The content was so unique, totally extraordinary!
I was speechless, never had a Leoville Las Cases at such level before definitely the best vintage I’ve tasted.
Beychevelle 9.6
Bouquet of coffee beans and thick juice. Forward, light and fruity, wine is more ready than other 2018.
Pessac Leognan
Chateau Olivier 9.1
Nose of dark olives. Fruits are dancing with the palette, lively and very decent quality.
Saint Emilion
Figeac 9.7+
Red fruit dominant nose. Superb balance that left me speechless, classic style.
La Gaffeliere 9.1-9.2
Graphite nose. Lacked impact and taste, no unique style, a bit easily forgettable, long finishing.
Pomerol
La Conseillante 9.6+
Load of violet, red fruit, floral and vanilla on the nose. Classic and not overpowering, lean and precise, good purity of fruits.
Nenin 9.5-9.6
Ultra ripe nose. Dense but not too jammy, great quality.

Jeannie Choo Lee MW says, “Bordeaux 2018 is filled with wonderful surprise.”
Many properties, especially in the northern Medoc, acclaim that 2018 represents the highest IPT (Indice de Polyphénols Totaux), measures of tannins in a wine. This is true for Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, Haut-Bailly and Palmer.
It was revealed that Chateau Lafleur, Le Pin and Petrus are three of the very best wines made in 2018 and both Petrus and Le Pin are 100% Merlot.
Similarly, on the left bank, the top cru classe properties with great terroir were superb.
Janice Robinson MW states “the enormous amount of wine produced in 2018”, equivalent to 666 million bottles. Out of which, 22 million litres from right bank Saint Emillion. Yields were slightly lower in the left bank than the right bank, this displays slightly better performance in the finished wine.

Jane Anson of Decanter says “2018 is likely to be high impact wines.” Agreeing with Jeannie Cho Lee MW, generally 2018 wines are big, bold and high in tannins, especially in the Cotes satellite and St Emillion.
In Pessac Leognan and Pomerol the wines were more balanced. Overall, both left and right bank did well. Vineyards with biodynamic farming in St Emillion, Pomerol, Pontet Canet and Palmer helped.
